Harmonic Series ("we," "our," or "us") operates The Tanpura mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
We are committed to minimizing data collection. The Tanpura collects only what is necessary to provide our services:
Purchase Information
When you make a purchase, transaction data is processed by RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. This includes purchase receipts, subscription status, and transaction identifiers. We do not store your payment card details.
Trial Usage Data
We track trial timer usage locally on your device to manage the free daily playback allowance. A minimal, anonymized request is sent to our server to activate extended trials. No personal identifiers are transmitted.
Device Information
We may collect basic device information (device type, operating system version) solely for app compatibility and crash diagnostics. This data is anonymized and cannot identify you personally.
App Updates
The App checks for over-the-air updates by sending your app version and a non-identifying fingerprint to our update server hosted on Cloudflare. No personal data is transmitted during this process.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, we rely on the following legal bases:
- —Contractual necessity: Processing purchase and subscription data is necessary to fulfil our contract with you and provide premium features you have paid for.
- —Legitimate interest: Collecting anonymized device information for crash diagnostics and app compatibility, and checking for app updates, is in our legitimate interest to maintain and improve the App.
4. Third-Party Services
Our App uses the following third-party services:

- —Apple App Store / Google Play Store — App distribution and payment processing, subject to their respective privacy policies.
5. Data Storage & Security
App preferences, settings, and trial timer data are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We do not maintain external databases containing your personal information. Purchase data is managed securely by RevenueCat and the respective app stores. All data transmitted between the App and our services is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption.
6. Data Retention
Local data (preferences, settings, trial timer) is retained on your device until you uninstall the App. Purchase and subscription records are retained by RevenueCat for the duration of your subscription or as required by applicable law. Anonymized device information used for crash diagnostics is retained only as long as necessary to resolve technical issues, and no longer than 90 days.
7. International Data Transfers
Our third-party service providers, including RevenueCat and Cloudflare, are based in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These providers maintain appropriate safeguards in compliance with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents. Given our minimal data collection practices, we do not sell, share, or rent personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
10. Children's Privacy
Our App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
